The Parts Canada Superbike National in Shubenacadie Nova Scotia. August 9, 2009
Irnie drives seven days (76 hours) across Canada, from Kelowna British Columbia to Shubenacadie Nova Scotia, to attend Round 6 of the Parts Canada Superbike National. Atlantic Motorsport Park was built in 1974, and is famous for its "roller coaster" back straight, and physically demanding course design. Occupying a 377 acre site, it is a 2.5km (1.6 mile) 11 turn road circuit, with original cracked pavement.
Marcel films his entire 10,000 Mile journey from the "second person perspective," with a unique film style he likes to call "active editing."
Marcel films randomly and talks with fellow racers and crew including Brian Blaauwendraat, Jim Brooks, Bodie Edie, Todd McLean, Steve Crevier, Jodi Christie, Billy Shields, Brett McCormick, and Efram Ellenbogen.
After Nova Scotia, Marcel visits Kreater Custom Motorcycles in Mississauga Ontario for rest and repair. Marcel will then venture to Shannonville Ontario where he must camp four weeks till the final national in September.

Irnieracing.com presents Marcel Irnie's DemoSled experience. Not many people would lend Marcel a recreational vehicle! Not to mention for his first ever sled experience. "I hope everyone enjoys my sledding adventure in High Definition thanks to GoPro Camera. I'm just glad I was able to return the sled intact!"
Location: Grey Stokes, Kelowna BC / Mabel Lake, Enderby BC Equipment: 2009 BRP Ski-Doo Summit 800R, 146" track, 151 hp Rotax 800R PowerTEK engine, 470 lbs wet. 2-Cycle Oils: AMSOIL Dominator Synthetic 2-Cycle Racing Oil (TDR) / AMSOIL Interceptor Synthetic 2-Cycle Oil (AIT)
"AMSOIL confronted BRP about the warranty language in its operator’s guides. Specifically, AMSOIL asserted that the warranty language violated the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a federal law which prohibits manufacturers from requiring the use of a branded service/replacement part unless the branded service/replacement part is provided free of charge or is not intended for use in consumer applications."
"BRP advised that it will modify the language of its operator’s guides as follows:
It will no longer say that use of oil other than the BRP branded product may void the warranty.
When it recommends a particular branded product, it will ensure that the language is clearly identified as a recommendation rather than a requirement.
It will no longer comment on the availability of equivalents to the BRP brand oil(s)."

Marcel Irnie is one of Canada’s most promising motorcycle road racers.
“The Cycle Canada article describes the huge financial challenges faced by Marcel as an aspiring privateer in the Canadian Amateur Sport Bike Series. Being located in BC when the bulk of the national schedule takes place in Eastern Canada certainly compounds his challenges.
We have talked to Marcel at length about the various financial, logistical and mechanical challenges that he’s faced so far and the Cycle Canada article certainly does justice to his story. As this is only his third season of racing, he literally came from nowhere. Last year in just his second year of racing motorcycles, he earned a third place finish at the Calgary National against the nation’s top amateurs. Just this past weekend he nailed down second place in the 2009 Calgary National!
There is no question that Marcel possess enormous raw talent. Not just anyone off the street could be competitive at a National level this quickly. Being successful at road racing requires more than simply going fast on a bike. The preparation and planning that is required is considerable; especially for a relative newcomer who is working on his own. The combination of speed and mental toughness required to thrive at this level is enormous and obviously Marcel was born with these attributes.
Undoubtedly Marcel has the right stuff to succeed in this sport. With the right breaks, it wouldn’t surprise us to see him battling for podiums in the Pro class in 2 or 3 years. “

West Kelowna’s Marcel Irnie looked to finish up the last round of the Parts Canada Superbike Series at Shannonville Ontario on a positive note. After crashing out of the latter stages of the previous round in Shubenacadie Nova Scotia (while battling for second place), Irnie was anxious to find redemption in the final event. With four long weeks separating the final two rounds of the season, Irnie had to camp in Shannonville, using the time to prepare for the race and heal the bumps and bruises sustained in the Maritime crash.

Marcel Irnie’s quest for success in the Armour Bodies Amateur Sport Bike class of the Parts Canada Superbike Series brought him to Atlantic Motorsport Park (AMP) in Shubenacadie, NS. As a lone privateer, the West Kelowna, BC native made the arduous seven day journey by himself. Irnie arrived the week prior to the Parts Canada National to participate in the regional races at AMP. This race weekend was used to regain his fitness and prepare the machinery for the National race. Using race worn tires, Irnie rode conservatively, bringing his lap times into the 1:12’s, placing 4th, 5th, and 3rd, but was penalized three positions in Sundays race for passing under a waving yellow.
"Marcel Irnie desperately wants to find success as a Canadian road racer-so much so that he's willing to live in a tent to do it."
Ask Marcel Irnie what he learned in his year competing in the Canadian Amateur 600 Sport Bike championship, and he can sum it up in one sentence: "You have to be the guy in the suit and the guy in the race leathers." Irnie started racing only two years ago, but jumped into the deep end in 2008, finishing sixth in the national series despite contesting only four of six races. And although he spent $8,000 in fuel driving his race bike hauler back and forth from his home in Kelowna to the eastern rounds, the 24-yearold is ready to do it all again in 2009. For a British Columbia racer with big aspirations, it goes with the territory.
Part 2:Amateur Sportbike Race, Podium, and rider interviews
Marcel placed his #74 Irnieracing.com AMSOIL zx-6rr in second place at the third round of the Parts Canada Championship Series at Race City, Calgary. Irnie was involved in a race-long battle with Quebec’s Sebastian Tremblay until Irnie finally passed Tremblay two corners from the finish for second. Alberta’s Cody Matechuk led all fourteen laps for first place.
